- Mental / emotional stress
- Mechanical stress (due to a physical force to the body)
- Chemical stress
These can build up in the body, causing tension in the muscles, and resulting in compression on the nerves passing through the muscles as the muscles tighten. This could undermine full communication within these nerve pathways, resulting in a reduction in the efficiency of the communications getting through to the brain (the control centre of the body).
The brain and nervous system control everything in the body. So, by releasing tensions in the muscles, communication within the nervous system is improved, which will improve the body’s self-healing capacity, as well as strengthen the body to withstand future stresses.

Body Stress Release, or BSR, it is a practical and effective complementary health technique which releases tensions stored in the muscles, improving the communication within the body (ie the nervous system). This results in an overall improvement in health and well-being, improving the body’s self-healing capacity.

With the person fully clothed, and lying face-down, light pressure tests are done along the spine to determine where stress is. When found, the stress is released using light impulses of the thumb.
